Fire pump testing questions
A fire pump flow test verifies that your pump can deliver the required water pressure and flow rate for your sprinkler system to function in a fire. It's required annually under NFPA 25. During the test, we measure performance at shutoff, rated flow, and peak flow, and compare results against the pump's design curve.
Per NFPA 25, fire pumps require a monthly no-flow (churn) test and an annual full-flow performance test. The annual test measures pressure, flow rate, and pump performance against the original design specifications.
