Yes. Myers AFP holds Wichita license #09211 and carries full insurance. Kansas does not require a separate state fire sprinkler contractor license. We can provide proof of licensing and insurance upon request.
It depends on the size of the building, the type of system, and the complexity of the job. There's no honest flat-rate answer. Contact us and we'll assess your project and give you a real number.
NFPA 13 governs installation of new systems. NFPA 25 governs inspection, testing, and maintenance of existing systems. Kansas adopts both standards. NFPA 13R applies to residential buildings up to four stories, and NFPA 13D applies to one- and two-family dwellings. Additional NFPA standards that apply include NFPA 14 (standpipe and hose systems), NFPA 20 (fire pumps), NFPA 24 (underground water mains for fire protection), and NFPA 409 (aircraft hangars).
Yes, and it usually makes things simpler. We know your system, its history, and what to look for. Most of our inspection clients are buildings we installed.
We work with commercial, industrial, healthcare, multi-family residential, government, education, retail, and hospitality properties across Kansas and Northern Oklahoma.
Inspections & Compliance
Per NFPA 25, fire sprinkler systems require inspections at multiple intervals. Most commercial property owners are aware of the annual inspection, but there are also quarterly requirements (alarm devices, control valves, fire department connections) and a comprehensive 5-year inspection that covers internal pipe condition and sprinkler head sampling. The full schedule depends on your system type.
Most inspections take between one and four hours depending on system size and type. Large commercial properties with multiple zones take longer. We'll give you a realistic time estimate before we show up.
NFPA 25 is the National Fire Protection Association's Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. It establishes the minimum inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements for fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, backflow preventers, and other water-based fire protection equipment. Compliance with NFPA 25 is required by most state and local fire codes.
Yes. After every inspection, we provide a written report documenting all components inspected, test results, and any deficiencies found. This report is what you'll provide to your insurance carrier, local fire marshal, or building inspector. Without it, you can't prove the system was properly inspected.
We document all deficiencies in the inspection report and categorize them by severity. Critical deficiencies need to be corrected immediately. Other deficiencies have a defined correction timeline. We can handle the repairs as well as the re-inspection.
Usually yes. Call us at (316) 833-3215 and we'll find the earliest available slot for your property.
Installation
Most new commercial construction in Kansas requires fire sprinkler systems under the International Building Code (IBC) and local fire codes. Requirements vary by building size, occupancy classification, and use. Older buildings may be required to retrofit sprinklers if undergoing major renovations. We can help you determine what's required for your specific project.
Wet pipe systems keep water in the pipes at all times — they're the most common and fastest to activate. Dry pipe systems use pressurized air instead of water and are used in spaces subject to freezing, like parking garages or unheated warehouses. We'll recommend the right system for your building.
Timeline depends on the size and complexity of the building. A small commercial project might take a few days. A large new construction or retrofit could take several weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeline when we walk the job — we don't give estimates without seeing the project.
We install wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, deluge, and antifreeze systems. We also install systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings, following NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, and NFPA 13D as applicable.
Yes. Retrofitting an existing building with fire sprinklers is more complex than new construction but it's done regularly. We assess the building structure, water supply, and code requirements, then design and install a system that meets code. Cost and timeline depend on the building.
Emergency Service
Call Myers AFP at (316) 833-3215. We answer 24/7. If you have a leaking or activated sprinkler, locate the main control valve and shut off the water supply to the system if it's safe to do so, then call us immediately.
First confirm there is no actual fire. If the building is safe, locate the main control valve (usually a large gate valve or OS&Y valve near the water entry point) and shut it off to stop water flow. Then call Myers AFP at (316) 833-3215. We'll come out, identify the cause, replace the activated head, and restore the system to service.
For Wichita and surrounding areas, we typically respond within 1–2 hours for emergency calls. For locations elsewhere in Kansas, we'll give you an honest ETA when you call. Response times depend on location and current workload.
